How to Download Twitter/X Videos Faster: Tips for Power Users

By The xfetchy team · June 1, 2026 · 4 min read

For occasional downloads, the standard workflow is fine. If you're saving multiple clips a day — for content creation, research, or archiving — a few optimizations add up fast.

Shortcut 1: Add xfetchy to your home screen

On iPhone and Android, you can add xfetchy.com to your home screen as a web app. Open xfetchy in Safari or Chrome, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. The icon appears on your home screen and opens the site instantly — one tap from copied link to Fetch.

Shortcut 2: The clipboard auto-pastes

Copy the link from X, then open xfetchy — the clipboard auto-populates into the URL box. Tap Fetch, tap Download. Three taps from copying to saving.

Shortcut 3: Pick the right format for your use case

  • Sharing to WhatsApp/Telegram: 720p MP4 — smaller file, faster upload, looks fine in chat.
  • Archiving: highest available (1080p or 4K) — you can make a smaller copy later but can't add quality back.
  • Audio only: MP3 — tiny file, loads instantly, plays anywhere.
  • GIF for a reaction: GIF tool — saves the looping MP4, sized for quick sends.

Shortcut 4: Copy the link at the right moment

The single biggest time sink is going back to X for the link. Get in the habit of copying the link while you're still in X — share sheet → Copy link — before you switch apps. The clipboard holds it until you paste.

On desktop: use a pinned tab

On Mac or Windows, pin xfetchy.com as a browser tab. It's always one click away; paste and go. See the Android guide or iPhone guide for the full mobile walkthrough.
