How to Save a Twitter/X Video to Your iPad
By The xfetchy team · June 1, 2026 · 4 min read
Saving a Twitter or X video on an iPad follows the same basic flow as on iPhone — with iPadOS routing files through the Files app before they can land in your Photo Library. Here's the complete walkthrough.
Step by step on iPadOS
- Open the post on X, tap Share → Copy link.
- Open xfetchy.com in Safari or Chrome on your iPad.
- Paste the link and tap Fetch.
- Tap Download on your chosen quality.
- When the share sheet appears, tap Save to Files or look for Save Video to send it directly to your Photo Library.
Save to Files vs Save Video
If you see both options, Save Video is usually what you want — it drops the clip into your iPad's Photo Library. Save to Files stores it in the Files app (under On My iPad → Downloads), which is better if you plan to import it into iMovie. If you only see "Save to Files," open the file there, tap share, and choose Save Video to move it into Photos.
Why iPad behaves like iPhone, not a Mac
Even though an iPad is physically large, iPadOS handles web downloads the same way iOS does — routing through Files first. This differs from a Mac, where the file lands directly in Downloads and plays immediately. The result is one extra tap, but the final file is identical.
Same tool, same result, just one extra tap on iPad. Paste the post link into xfetchy — or see the iPhone guide for a parallel walkthrough.
