How to Download a Twitter/X Profile Picture or Banner in Full Resolution

Try to save someone's X avatar the normal way and you'll get a blurry, circle-cropped thumbnail — because that's all the app displays. The full image is sitting on X's servers at a much better size; you just need to ask for it directly.
Download a profile picture at full size
Paste a link to the profile (or any post from that account) into the profile picture downloader. You'll get the original square image with no circle mask and no extra compression — X stores avatars at up to 400×400 pixels.
Download a header / banner image
The wide image across the top of a profile is the header. The banner downloader pulls it at its full 1500×500 size (a 3:1 ratio) instead of the cropped slice you see on the profile.
What sizes you actually get
- Profile picture: up to 400×400, square, uncropped.
- Header/banner: 1500×500 (3:1).
- Video poster frame: grab it with the thumbnail downloader — handy when you want the still, not the clip.
Use them responsibly
A profile picture or banner belongs to its owner. Saving one to reference, archive your own, or use with permission is fine — impersonating an account or passing off someone's artwork as yours is not. When in doubt, ask. (More on the lines in our legality guide.)
Need a clean avatar or banner? Drop the profile link into xfetchy and grab the full-resolution original.
